Cheap and Debonair
posted by Otto Octavius on July 3rd, 2009
I walked a thousand miles, alone,
The footprints I left are now long gone,
Nobody ever saw them
And now, no one can.
I could wait a hundred years
But I would get nothing but tears…
Your head is not at the right place
There is a cheating smile on your face.
If you don’t love me, let me go away
Take a further step into the day
Because I don’t know tomorrow
But some images I can borrow…
And it looks so bright, so true
Sadly, I just don’t think it is with you.
I could be wrong,
So could this song…
But I see your eyes
And all untold lies!
Ah, well, I walk another thousand miles
Carrying tears yet to be spilled
a pocket-full of to-be-had smiles
and irony yet to be distilled.
You say I am a king among cowards
Well, my feet move along, stalwart.
In going forward bravery there is
For you are not mine, you are not his.
